

Maris Subsea requires a Senior Geologist with strong technical skills in hydrocarbon exploration and development geology and extensive experience in 3D stochastic reservoir modeling for a Client contract, based in Malaysia. Scope: The Senior Geologist will work closely in an integrated team of Geoscientists and Reservoir Engineers to ensure optimum evaluation of development, appraisal, and exploration opportunities within relevant assigned area, providing geological input to operated block evaluations, semi-regional/basin studies, evaluation of new opportunities and prospect generation. Duties and expectations include, but are not limited to; - Familiarisation with existing subsurface database, comprising maps, logs, seismic interpretation and models. - Familiarisation of available regional information comprising mainly reports and technical papers and non-proprietary data supplied. - Understand the petroleum system of assigned area and incorporate into a regional framework with regards to regional geological setting, structural evolution and sedimentary depositional history. - Validate and demonstrate the sequence stratigraphy of area within a regional context through examination of depositional characteristics through seismic, well logs and core. Examine and incorporate available depositional environment and paleogeography interpretations, to define reservoir development and continuity. - Provide a coherent and annotated description of the sourcing, transportation and deposition of reservoir facies in relevant area, covering the controlling mechanisms, depositional environments and facies distribution. - Validate geochemistry model for area within a basin context, with regard to source rock characterisation; and to the generation and migration of oils, condensates, hydrocarbon gases and CO2. - Describe and predict the occurrences of overpressure within area; model overpressure, compare and calibrate to seismic velocity model. - Evaluate and describe in detail each prospect. Provide probabilistic volumes assessment and risk analysis for each prospect/lead. Rank prospects and describe ranking criteria. - Provision of hydrocarbon exploitation plan with associated costs. - Provide geological input to the integrated development and appraisal team. - Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff. Applicants for the role of Senior Geologist must have the following skills and qualifications; - MSc (or equivalent level of qualifying experience) in Geology, those educated to BSc level will also be considered. - Approximately 10 years relevant practical petroleum industry experience. - Strong technical skills in hydrocarbon exploration and development geology. - Extensive experience in 3D stochastic reservoir modelling. - Experience in core description and image log analyses for sedimentological modelling. - Working knowledge of Malay basin stratigraphy and petroleum systems. - Knowledge of sequence stratigraphy, basin analysis and prospect generation, and be familiar with the latest subsurface techniques and computer-based geological applications. - Direct association with previous hydrocarbon drilling activities. - Well site geology experience and exposure to well site geology software considered an advantage.
